At our core, we champion diversity and inclusion, drawing members from the faculties of Computing, Law, and Business. This mosaic of backgrounds enriches our collective vision, fostering innovation and enabling us to tackle local and global challenges with creativity and impact.

Our mission resonates through five key avenues:

  • Community Service: We address local needs with impactful projects, aiming to uplift and empower our immediate community.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to financial health and environmental stewardship, with dedicated focuses on managing finances responsibly and promoting environmental conservation and animal welfare.

The hallmark of our club lies in character and professional development. Members not only contribute to community service but also cultivate leadership skills, project management expertise, and a profound sense of civic responsibility. Recognized for our achievements, including accolades like the "Most Outgoing Award" in the 33rd Rotaract District Conference and the prestigious ROAR Award for outstanding international service for Project Unity Seven, we strive for excellence in every endeavor.

Looking ahead, we aspire to broaden our impact locally and internationally. Our future goals include pioneering innovative projects, forging stronger partnerships, and nurturing an inclusive environment that supports the growth and aspirations of all members.

The Rotaract Club of APIIT is more than a club; it is a vibrant community united by a passion for positive change. Together, we learn, lead, and serve embracing the true spirit of Rotaract to create a better world.

Club History

"Rome wasn't built in a day," and neither was the Rotaract Club of APIIT. It took five years of relentless dedication and hard work to reach the heights of success we proudly stand on today in 2024. Founded in 2019, our club has grown from a small group of 18 passionate individuals to over 100 committed members, becoming the largest club at the University of APIIT and a prominent name within Rotaract District 3220.

In our early years, we were known as the "Reviving Club," a title that reflected our persistent efforts to establish a strong foundation amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the turbulent conditions, our determination never wavered. Last year marked a turning point as we soared to new heights, transforming our vision into reality.

Our growth is exemplified by the introduction of signature projects such as "Thai Thirunaal", "Baila Friday," "Frost of Love," and "Musique De Noel." These initiatives, which didn't exist until last year, have become annual highlights, showcasing our creativity, dedication, and impact on the community. For the first time ever, we have received prestigious awards and extended our reach to international Rotaract functions, cementing our reputation on a global scale.

The journey began with our first and only project in 2019 – the installation ceremony. During this inaugural event, Charter President Rtr. Vinura Wijekoon was collared, and our dedicated board of officials was introduced:

  • Vice President: Rtr. Wasath Kodituwakku
  • Secretary: Rtr. Geethapriyan Sarveswaran
  • Assistant Secretary: Rtr. Amanda Jayawardana
  • Treasurer: Rtr. Milan Boteju
  • Sergeant at Arms: Rtr. Dinura Ediriweera
  • Co-Editors: Rtr. Maleesa Anne, Rtr. Nimesh Dasanayake
  • Director Club Service: Rtr. Minura Perera

  • Director Public Relations: Rtr. Muaaz Rafeek
  • Director IT: Rtr. Avishka Jayasundara
  • Director Sports and Recreation: Rtr. Omar Imthiyaz

From this modest beginning, where we only managed to organize a single project in our inception year, we have now expanded to executing over 50 impactful projects annually by our fourth year. The Rotaract Club of APIIT has thrived on the dedication and teamwork of its members, standing tall and proud at the pinnacle of success.

As we continue to climb the ladder of excellence, we remain committed to fostering fellowship, leadership, and community service.

Special Achievements

It is with immense pride and pleasure that we look back on a successful year and honor the

well-deserved achievements of our Club and its members. Notably, Rtr. IPP Komudi

Pinnedoowe made history as the first person from the Rotaract Club of APIIT to get into the

District Steering Committee for the years 2023/2024. She was appointed as the Director of

Organization Development. Another notable achivement was brought by Rtr. Janani

Mathiyalagan, as she secured the title of President of the Month for the month of July for the

first time in the Club’s history. The 33rd Rotaract District Conference became the first event at

which the Club successfully secured 2 out of 11 awards with this being the first time the Club

has won awards since its inception. The Club also had the privilege of hosting Yaluwa, a

district initiative which has been held for the past 12 years by the Rotaract in RID 3220 - Sri

Lanka and Maldives. The project was a rebranding of the World Down Syndrome Day

celebrations and focused on uplifting and empowering such children for the future. The Rotaract

Club of APIIT made their presence known with 8 delegates at Rotasia 2024 - Bengaluru, and

International Convention for Rotaractors and Rotaract Clubs in South Asia. This was a

remarkable achievement to the Club as it was the first time in the Club’s history representing

APIIT at an International Convention as well as marking the highest participation from a single

participation from a single club from Sri Lanka.

Noteworthy Initatives

Some of the exceptional initiatives undertaken or participated by the Club include ‘Stop the

Spread’ and ‘Virtual Walk.’ The award winning initiative by Dr. Rohantha, Stop the Spread, was

inaugurated with the intention of encouraging Rotaractors across Sri Lanka to act as one to stop

the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus. Another exemplary initiative by the Club was the

Virtual Walk of Hope, which became the first ever Rotaract Virtual Walk. This meaningful

initiated was conducted in 2020 in aid of the Center for Education of Hearing-Impaired Children,

to raise funds and create meaning in the lives of those gifted children.
